ASUKA III Cruises
Five days round-trip from Hakata, calling at Miyazu and Sakaiminato, with cruising among the Oki Islands on the way out. Amanohashidate is a pine-covered sandbar across the bay; at Sakaiminato, bronze yokai line the street.
Fukuoka Airport is five minutes from Hakata Station by subway — few Japanese airports sit this close to the city. Half a day before boarding is enough to walk the old quarter, or to do nothing at all and sit by the river in Nakasu waiting for the food stalls to open.

Sakaiminato is one of the leading fishing ports on the Japan Sea coast and the hometown of the cartoonist Shigeru Mizuki. Along the street from the station to the harbour stand more than a hundred bronze yokai.
